About

Bio

I hold an MSc in Economics from the University of Bonn and a BSc in International Economics from the University of Tübingen. My research interest in climate and energy finance intensified during my PhD, where exposure to both academic networks (through a visit at Columbia University, hosted by Caroline Flammer) and financial institutions (through a visit at Norges Bank hosted by Emilia Garcia-Appendini) shaped my perspective on how the energy transition creates financial frictions that matter for firms, investors, and regulators. Since Spring 2024, I have been a PhD committee member of the Young Scholars’ Webinar Committee on Climate Finance and Economics, supported by the E-Axes Forum.

Research Focus

I study investments in the energy transition from two perspectives. The first is sustainable finance and corporate investment, where I ask how regulation and policy affect firms’ investment decisions. In my job market paper, I show how approval times affect firms’ decisions to abandon investment plans in new power plants. In related work, I document a ratchet effect in climate-related investment. Firms respond asymmetrically to changes in financing conditions, expanding investment more readily than scaling it back. The second is development finance, where I study multilateral development banks, which are among the largest financiers of development and climate. My work investigates how they access capital markets, and what this implies for their capacity to fund development and climate goals.

Engagement & Leadership

I care about building research communities, particularly for early-career scholars. I initiated and organized the first Rising Scholars Conference (2024) and a Fireside Chat with Caroline Flammer on Women in Academia (2023). Since 2021, I have served as the elected Junior Researchers’ Representative at the Department of Finance, and since 2024, at the faculty level.

Beyond Research

Outside of research, I love rowing and being outdoors.
